“Sometimes I feel like giving up, then I remember I have a lot of haters to prove wrong”
I was taught from youth that hate is ugly.
I was taught that hate causes wars, people to not love one another, and the world to be further away from achieving peace.
As I grew older, I learned hate can be a positive force.
When I look back at my proudest accomplishments, they were mostly fueled by my hatred for something (or someone).
- In high school, I woke up to study when my friends were still asleep because I hated being poor and I saw education as my way out
- In college, committing to my diet so I could lose 40 pounds was because of my hatred of being told I was fat – I was tired of having people comment on my weight
- My senior year of college, I stayed up late prepping for tomorrow’s interviews because of my hatred for those recruiters who had turned me down – I wanted to prove those companies wrong for rejecting me.
The quickest way to create an endless fountain of motivation is to find what you hate about where you are at and a reason for why your goal/dream/resolution will help you eliminate the hatred you have.
When you hate where you are so badly that you are willing to change, you’ll feel a motivation like no other you could ever feel.
When you have this sort of motivation, you stop making excuses and you start taking action. Keeping a photo of the body you want will motivate you to go to the gym, but having a photo of an ex who dumped you because of your body will motivate you to do more sit-ups when you otherwise would have stopped.
If you want something badly enough, you’ll get it done; otherwise you’ll find an excuse.
